ซึ่งได้เรียกเสียงฮือฮา และกระแสย้ายค่ายกลับของผู้ที่เคยย้ายระบบจาก Alpha , Minolta ไปเป็นระบบอื่น ด้วยฟีเจอร์อันหลากหลายของรุ่นเล็ก 500, 550 รวมทั้งการจัดการ Noise ที่ดีเนี่ยมมากกว่า A700 เสียอีก (Link) โดยเฉพาะรุ่น 550 นั้นมีจอที่มีความละเอียดสูงและให้การรับชมได้ภาพสวยมากเหมือนรุ่น 700, 850, 900 คือ 9 แสนพิคเซล แต่ที่พิเศษกว่ารุ่นพี่คือมันพลิกจอได้ แบบ A300, A350, A330, A380 เลย และยังเป็น Alpha รุ่นแรกที่ทำความเร็ว Burst mode ได้เร็วที่สุดทะลุเพดาน 5fps (ที่ 700, 900 ทำไว้) เป็น 7fps อีกด้วย (ในโหมด Speed priority คือคงสภาพแสงและค่าทุกอย่างไว้ให้เหมือนภาพแรก กล้องสะบัดกระจกถ่ายอย่างเดียว)
และเหนืออื่นใด ราคาขายก็เป็นตัวดึงดูดอย่างมากต่อลูกค้าทั้งเก่าที่ต้องการเปลี่ยนบอดี้ และใหม่ที่ต้องการเข้าอารยธรรม Sony หรือผู้ที่ต้องการย้ายค่ายกลับ ซึ่งใครที่ทราบราคาต่างก็ต้องลบภาพเจ้าพ่อของราคาแพงอย่าง Sony ลงไปทันที

From some source mentioning that there will be announcement about new DSLR model from Sony in late August 2009, today, many websites post new topic about the, confirmed, two new bodies from Sony, A850 as leaked while ago and A500 (leaked before A850).

A500 is equal to A700 (in my openion) even there are some advantages and disadvantages. The A500 still not have movie recording function like rivals, but there are two modes of live view, ”Quick LiveView” and direct-to-sensor live view (like other brands). About the new mode, it is available only for manual focus but featuring with some kind of face detection. I don’t kwon what is the point of this mode and why they provide two mode of live view. For the advantages and disadvantages comparing to it’s predecessor, A700, there is a tiltable 3″ LCD screen coming usually with live view enable DSLR model from sony, but even it has more flexibility in viewing angle, it has only 230,000 pixel like cheap model and shutter speed is not reach the A700 max speed (only 1/4000 compare to 1/8000 in A700). Battery is like usual models using (FM500H). Sensor is mentioned that it is CMOS, but not be specified that it is the new ‘EXMOR-R’, from DK’s determination, he said that sensor is like one from A700 but modified, so this model has 12 MP resolution as same as A700 but can boost ISO to 12800.
For the bigger brother, A850, the spec is like leaked before, but there is some little correction about BIONZ processor that it is not alone, it still has dual BIONZ like A900. IMQ is predictied that may be better than A900 even this is the ‘handicaped’ model from A900, because other brand (Nikon) always show that newer model will have better IMQ than older one even sharing the same sensor ex. D80 and D200, D5000 and D300.

From reliable sources here and here present the leaking user manual of the new unfamiliar name of alpha model, the A850, …. eh … you’ve already known ??
The specification is not so much differ from it’s big brother, A900, but lacking or decreasing some functions from the original, such as the smaller viewfinder (98% from 100%), burst rate (3 fps from 5 fps).
But I think the point is it pricing that may catch more and more A900 fans that don’t have enough bucks. Sharing the same body, A850 is the real hero to lead the new standard for high resolution ‘Full frame’ body to the battlefield among Canon and Nikon.

Time to say goodbye for Sony Alpha A700 !
Sony Alpha fans from dpreview post that Sony Alpha A700 in Sony Japan website is shown as “production end”.
This means that Sony is planing for replacement like its younger brother series Sony Alpha 2xx and Sony Alpha 3xx ?
Does Sony plan to have a gap in this series ? (nah, you are kidding!)
Or it will be a major in this line ? since we haven’t heard about new Sony Alpha in 7xx series !

Breaking news !
We got a quick report from photorumors that Sony Style USA website does include Sony Alpha A500, A550, A850 into the drop-down list in search box !
Anyway there is no more detail about specification, price, release date or photo for these models, but surely this is a sign that Sony is recruiting new Alpha to their DSLR fleet. A500, A550, and A850 we hope to see you soon!

As you may know from earlier post that there is new “friendly user interface” to help new DSLR user included in coming Sony Alpha A230, A330, A380. Today we will see how it is,
Sony Aplha New Display
Shutter speed bar
- Located at an upper bar in the middle of the screen, having a “standing” and “running” man icon at each ends.
- Have the number 30 to 1/4000 (second) at each ends of the bar.
- Show the photographer which speed he/she is using
- Guide the speed selection for each situation, shooting running man or subject need higher speed, so we tend to adjust speed to right hand side of the bar.
Aperture bar
- Located at a lower bar in the middle of the screen
- Have a man with “blur mountain” and man with “sharp mountain” icon at each ends
- Show the photographer which size of aperture he/she is using
- Guide the aperture selection for each situation, shooting to get a blur background require setting smaller aperture number, so we need to adjust aperture number to the left.
Another fancy thing is you can adjust the color of the screen, as I can see there are 4 colors available, black, brown, pink and white.

There are some leaks from Sony Canada website (again) that show the strange name of alpha line. Two noticable points can be seen from the model naming. A500 and A550 are probably be the new alpha members coming soon and the ’s’ suffix letter hints that new set of bundled lens kit will be revealed soon too.

All are “Smooth Autofocus Motor” (SAM) enabled, Sony claims they will have a smooth, quiet operation, and high optical performance in a compact size.

Very clear that Sony’s targeting on getting new DSLR user (FIRST-TIME DIGITAL SLR BUYERS ) into its Alpha world by providing wide range of entry level product rather than pulling an old hand from other system.

After our last report about rumor of new Alpha. It follow with leaked photo and information from Sony Style Russia shows that the 3 new Alpha are coming !
Looks like Sony is targetting on “new DSLR user”, since it put a “ease of use”, “friendly interface”, like a small handbook inside camera.
What’s it mean, see these improvements.
- New graphic display - Diaphram and shutter speed with small icon to describe result of setting.
- Directory - Explain purpose/charactoristic of each shooting mode (so you don’t need to carry the user manual anymore ? hm ?)

3 new model leaked are,
- A230 - Light weight DSLR with Super-Steady-Shot inside
- A330 - DSLR with LCD turning feature
- A380 - 14.2 MPxl DSLR for hi-quailty job
Well, that’s all we can get from this. Not much, but it’s quite clear that it is likely not just a rumor anymore.
